Umpire Exam Instructions

To obtain and print the 2019 USA Softball test click the link below complete the test and return your answers to Dave Chandler either by email or mail.

To take the test online you will need to follow these directions.

1.  Go to     (click on this link to take you there)

2.  If you know your login, skip to step 5.

If this is your first time on Register ASA, use the “Forgot your Username” and/or “Forgot your Password” links found below the login to retrieve your information.

(If your email exists in the RegisterASA system, the requested information will be emailed to you within an hour. Please note that you should check your junk mail folders just in case your reminder was flagged.)

3. (Optional)  If you have not received any email reminders or if you have never registered with ASA before, then click the “Create Profile (Or Reset Password)” button.

After you have clicked the button, on the next page you will need to scroll to the bottom of the current screen and click the “Create Account” button.

a.       You will be directed to the “Create your member profile” page.

b.      Please write down the username and password for later use.

c.       Please fill out all of the required information.

  • Be sure to check the Umpire box for “Membership Type”.
  • To finish this process, simply click the “Submit” button located at the bottom of the screen.

4.  If at any point you were redirected to another page, please return to

5.  Login to the system using the username and password you provided.

6.  To access the umpire exam, locate the “Personal Steps” grid located on your Homeplate.

  • In that grid you will see a requirement named “ASA Umpire Exam”.
  • Click on the hyperlink (should look like this: ASA Umpire Exam)
  • If you do not see this link, please go to the troubleshooting section of this document.

7.  You have now been directed to the beginning of the Umpire Exam, on this page you will select your test type (Fast Pitch, Slow Pitch, or Both depending on the requirements of your local UIC) and enter your test code given to you by your UIC.

8.  Once you have entered all necessary information, you can click the “Start Test” button

  • The test has no time limit.
  • Your answers are saved as you enter them.
  • You can stop the test and resume it at a later time if necessary.
  • There are 10 questions per page.

9.  Once you have answered all of the questions. You must navigate to the last page of the test and click the “Click Here to Submit Your Test” button to submit your test to your local UIC.

10.  After clicking the “Click Here to Submit Your Test” button, you are directed to the final page of the exam. On this page you will see the questions you missed along with the answer you selected.

11.  Your Umpire Exam is now complete.



 If you do not see the link for the umpire exam:

  • Go to your profile by clicking the “Profile” link.  Be sure the Umpire box is checked under “Membership Type”.
  • If it is checked, unselect it and save your profile. Once the save is complete, recheck the Umpire role for “Membership Type” and resave your profile.
  • If it isn’t checked, please select the Umpire role for “Membership Type” and save your profile.
  • Please return to you Homeplate ( and see if any changes have been made.
  • If after following these instructions you still cannot access the exam, please contact your UIC.
