OKLAHOMA CITY – The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America, the National Governing Body for Softball in the United States, and USA Softball is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2013 with a year full of giveaways and promotions. Prior to the founding of ASA/USA Softball in 1933, softball had been in a state of confusion with no single set of rules established to govern the sport. The establishment of ASA/USA Softball by founders Leo Fischer and Michael Pauley helped organize softball at the national level, and today, ASA/USA Softball has become one of the nation's largest sports organizations with sanctioned competition in every state through a network of 76 local associations.
