USA Softball of Indiana State Commissioner Mick Renneisen announced the appointment of two existing staff to new positions in the organization.

Effective November 17, Jeff Alsip will become the Junior Olympic State Commissioner while Tim Fulton will become the Junior Olympic Tournament Coordinator.

Jeff Alsip – Junior Olympic State Commissioner

Jeff Alsip began playing slow-pitch softball in the summer of 1980.  As a former baseball player, Alsip exhibited his passion for the sport and enjoyed the competition during a career that lasted for 19 years. Jeff played on and coached Evansville teams that competed at the highest level during that time period.

Alsip began umpiring in the slow-pitch game in 1987.  During his umpiring career, which lasted until 1999, he was selected to umpire several slow-pitch nationals. Jeff’s next transition in softball occurred when his oldest daughter reached the age to start playing organized T-Ball.  Alsip coached travel softball from 2001-2016. In addition, he coached at the High School level for four years.

Alsip has been on the Indiana ASA staff since 1995. He has served on the Indiana Executive Board for 20 years, serving as Board President in 2014-2015.

Alsip had this to say about his appointment: “I have great passion for the sport of softball. During my coaching career, I feel very humbled that 46 young ladies that played for me were able to continue their softball careers while attaining a college education.” On his new role Alsip said: “As with anything in my life, I look at this as a challenge to be the best I can be in this role. I look forward to working with the USA Softball of Indiana staff to help grow the great sport of softball in our state.”

Commissioner Renneisen commented: “Jeff’s extensive and diverse background in softball and with our organization provides him with the ideal qualities for this position. His passion for the sport and his work ethic assure me that he will be an excellent JO State Commissioner.”

Tim Fulton – JO Tournament Coordinator

Tim Fulton began his involvement in softball as a slow pitch player in the early 90’s after playing baseball earlier in life.  Tim was first exposed to fast pitch softball when his two daughters began playing the sport. He started by assisting coaches with league practices and eventually began to help coach travel teams as well as teach hitting.

Tim has extensive sports management background including serving in program and facility management positions at the Crane Naval Base, the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and in his current role as Director of Sports Facilities at Deaconess Sports Park in Evansville.

Fulton has served in several leadership roles with Indiana ASA. He is currently the Region 10 Vice-President and is also the Indiana ASA Executive Board President.  Tim has been very involved with the formation and development of the Indiana ASA/Worth Power Series adult slow pitch events.

Commissioner Renneisen had this to say about Fulton’s appointment: “Tim’s extensive sports management and softball specific knowledge will be a real asset to the enhancement of the Junior Olympic tournament program. As Indiana ASA transitions to USA Softball of Indiana, we look forward to Tim’s involvement in providing additional, quality events for our youth players, coaches and fans.”

Fulton said: “I am humbled to have been asked to serve in this new role with USA Softball of Indiana. I look forward to helping create more events for youth participants in the future.”

Alsip and Fulton will begin working with retiring JO State Commissioner, Cindy Inman, on the transition throughout the balance of the year.  Jeff can be reached at or 812 499-4250. Tim can be reached at or 812 340-4535.
